Fire Doors are installed in a building to saves lives and property in the event of a Fire. 1 in 12 Deaths are caused by spread of fire through rooms. They are a specified part of a building's passive fire protection system. It is essential a fire door performs its vital task, so specifying the right fire door and installing it correctly can be a life or death responsibility. Our Joiners have years and years of experience of fitting Fire Doors approved by local councils so you can be safe in the knowledge that our work is second to none.
For a door to be operational, the door leaf must be free to move within the frame. In order to do this there must be a 3mm gap around the perimeter which may compromise the door's ability to restrict the spread of fire. When intumescent strips are installed, they expand to fill the gap when subjected to heat.
Another point of weakness is the gap at the rebated hinges. Intumescent hinge pads can be installed to prevent this.
